5000 Euro donation for school in Bad Köstritz

Dr. Klaus Bergner: „Das ist für uns vor allem eine strategische Entscheidung.“

Bad Köstritz. VACOM will support the new school concept of the Bad Köstritz regular school with 5,000 euros over the next ten years. Self-organized learning is the name of the pedagogical concept of the "Hans Settegast" state regular school. It was introduced at the beginning of the new school year. The aim is for students to learn how to work purposefully with digital devices.

"Modern working environments place new demands on young people. At VACOM, we address this intensively as early as the training stage. That is why it is also a strategic decision for us to support modern educational approaches in a targeted and long-term manner. Alone when we talk about the increasing automation and digitalization of workplaces. That has to start in school - and that's exactly what this school concept offers," says Dr. Klaus Bergner, member of the management board.

In the future, each student will have his or her own desk and will use a competency grid to work out his or her own learning material. There will be no more frontal teaching in the classroom. And there will be no more missed lessons, because the students will learn on their own - even from home. They are supported by their teachers. This is made possible by the digital collection of materials in the new learning software, for whose license costs VACOM is donating.

"This is a courageous decision. To make such a radical concept change in the current school year. It offers the chance - similar to the principle of try and fail - to uncover weak points in the learning material. A process in which the students are involved. That's how we work in business, too," adds Dr. Klaus Bergner.

Self-organized learning is currently being tested, particularly in the main subjects and in the higher grades. Once the school has been rebuilt, it will be introduced across all age groups in all subjects in which it is possible.
